작가 Nelson Algren (1909 ~ 1981)과의 오랜 우정으로 많이 알려진 미국 태생의 Art Shay(1922 ~ )는 Bronx에서 어린 시절을 보내고, 2차 세계대전 중 navigator로 군복무 후 Life magazin을 위해 일하게 되고 그 후 시카고에 근거를 둔 프리랜서 사진가로 Life, Time, Sports Illustrated 등을 위해 활동하게 됩니다.
